This year, on International Women’s Day, The Nationals Member for Morwell Martin Cameron has joined in celebrations to mark 100 years since women were first allowed to stand for Victorian Parliament.
“I’m extremely proud and humbled to be surrounded by so many wonderful, strong women whose leadership, tenacity and resilience deserve to be celebrated today on International Women’s Day and every other day,” Mr Cameron said.
“In Victorian Parliament, women now make up the majority for The Nationals, and they have been elected by their communities because they are the right people for the job. They bring intelligence, insight and passion to the floor of Parliament and are strong advocates for the people of regional Victoria.
“To the new Nationals MPs – Annabelle Cleeland (Euroa), Kim O’Keefe (Shepparton), Jade Benham (Mildura) and Gaelle Broad (Northern Victoria Region) – thank you. We are all better off for your contributions.
“To my Parliamentary colleagues, the women in my life and women everywhere across the Latrobe Valley – happy International Women’s Day.”
