The city of Latrobe has lost 37 public housing properties since 2018 under the Labor Government.
“This is the government’s own data, and all the grandstanding about addressing the housing crisis is the reality that local public housing stocks have actually reduced,” The Nationals Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, said.
“Under the much-hyped Big Housing Build, Labor has promised to deliver 12,000 new homes by 2026, but in the last seven years only added a paltry 233 extra public housing properties to the state register.
“Wait times have also skyrocketed from 10 months to 18 months for families on the Victorian Housing Register.
“And families escaping domestic violence now find themselves waiting 23.6 months to get housing.
“For three years we have been promised more social housing, but it has been proven the supply of homes is dwindling, and homelessness is skyrocketing.
“We need swift and decisive action now – not more platitudes and empty promises.”
