The Nationals Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, has welcomed news that two local initiatives have received funding to help them create healthy futures for the region’s young people.
GippSport will receive a $50,000 boost to expand Kiddo, its successful literacy program aimed at kids aged 2-5 to help them build skills, knowledge and behaviours for toddlers to be active throughout life.
Artists for Kids Culture has received a $45,000 grant to deliver 20 arts programs along with a festival designed by young people aged 5-17.
Mr Cameron said the funding is being provided on the back of successful applications to VicHealth’s most recent round of JumpStart! Funding.
“Both these initiatives are terrific ways of getting young people across the Valley active and involved in their local communities,” Mr Cameron said.
“I encourage young people and their families to see what’s on offer near them – these projects are a great chance to try a new skill and make new friends along the way.”
VicHealth’s JumpStart! grants are currently closed to new applications, but new funding rounds and streams are expected to open later in the year.
